Mother Jones magazine (September - October 2009) reports that bottled drinking water might not be all the consumer expects it to be. With more and more people going green and even the state of California trying to end the use of bottled water because of the amount of waste caused by the plastic bottles the water is stored in, bottled water is coming under a high-powered microscope:
About Sam's Choice (Wal-Mart) bottled water, per Mother Jones magazine:
". . . Water comes from the Las Vegas municipal supply. A test by the Environmental Working Group found it had 200% of the allowable trihalomethane, a carcinogen, and included several chemicals known to cause DNA damage." (p. 38)
Also, listed in Mother Jones was the distance a bottle of water had to travel from the source to a consumer in San Fransisco - a bottle of Evian had to travel 6,265 miles to get to the consumer.
