Susan Wittag Albert - New Series

Mystery author Susan Wittag Albert has a new series out that is set in the south in the depression era called the Darling Dahlias and the Cucumber Tree. Reviewers speak highly of the new series and readers enjoy Albert's research and knowledge of the era.

Basic Computer Classes

The library will be offering Basic Computer Classes for Adults 55+. The classes are free and will meet three times. Students will learn how to use a mouse, surf the internet and get started on emailing.

The March class is full but there is still space available in the April and May classes. Stop by the circulation desk to pick up a registration form.

The classes are held on the first three Wednesdays of April and May from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Basic Computer Skills

The Albert Lea Public Library will be hosting a free basic computer class in March. This class will meet March 12, 19 & 26 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Visit the library to register. These classes will help you to get the basics down - learn how to use a mouse and keyboard, register for email and more.

If you'd like to expand your skills don't forget to check out Safety 'Net which is held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 to 3 p.m. Staff will be available to help you with your computer skills. Walk-ins welcome.

Know Someone Who Needs a Little Computer Help?

If you or someone you know could use a little help learning how to use a computer why not check out Safety 'Net at the Albert Lea Public Library. Safety 'Net is held in the computer lab on Mondays from 2 to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. Staff will be available to help you learn a new skill, polish the ones you have or just get started.

If you know someone who'd like to take an introductory class for basic computer skills make sure to pick up an application at the circulation desk. Classes will be held in November and they usually fill up fast so come in soon!

Need help using the computer?

Would you like some help using the computer? Need to sign up for a free email account or learn how to use the mouse or keyboard? Wanting to learn how to surf the net or do searches on Google? The Albert Lea Public Library hosts "Safety 'Net" every Monday from 2 to 3 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Just come on into the computer lab and staff will be available to help you learn new skills.

July Computer Class - Cooking Online!

The Albert Lea Public Library is offering free computer classes this summer. The class for July is "Cooking Online." You'll learn about nifty websites for recipe-sharing and learning new cooking techniques. You are invited to come in, learn more about it and pick up a registration form.

Each class will meet twice and there are two sessions in July.

Classes meet on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and will go until about 2:30 p.m. The classes are fun and casual.

And don't forget to check out August's class . . . "Healthy Living and Medical Research."

Are you new to job hunting or do you want to polish the skills you've already got? The Albert Lea Public Library is hosting a free workshop on job searching skills. This workshop will meet Monday, June 23, Wednesday, June 25 and Friday, June 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 nooon. Each day a different topic will be covered. Get tips on resumes, coverletters and job applications. Practice interview skills and more.

This class will be presented by Jane Kepple-Johnson and Jean Eaton.
