I can't believe it's time to start thinking about summer reading already! We are preparing for this years program "Catch the Reading Bug". We need names for our two different groups; picture book readers, and chapter book readers. It has to be something related to books and/or bugs (ex. Bookworms). Do you have a catchy name? And the movie that will be shown on Friday, March 25th at 3:00 p.m. is The Bee Movie. It is a comedy about Barry B. Benson, a bee who has just graduated from college and wants to do more with his life than make honey. On a special trip outside the hive he discovers humans actually eat honey, and decides to sue us!
Movie will be shown in the 2nd floor computer lab.
There is a limit of 30 seats available and it is first come first serve, so come early.
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian by Sherman Alexie is the author first young adult novel and is a semiautobiographical memoir of Arnold Spirit. Arnold a Spokane Indian, is a bright 14-year-old who was born with water on the brain and frequently is targeted by bullies. He leaves "the rez" to go to a rich, white school where he is the only native American on campus.
The story explores Arnold's struggles with courage and insight. Somtimes it is witty, other times it is shocking, but always seems to come across honestly and in the voice of a teenage boy who has seen more than his fair share of burdens.
A lot of kids play video games, but what about board games? When the weather is gloomy, it is nice to stay inside and connect with your family playing games, especially board games. Pull out Monopoly, Scrabble, Boggle or UNO. Or if you are looking for some hilarious fun, try Pictionary. Your team tries to guess what you are drawing while you are being timed. So you can't be picky, you have to draw fast!
