This week is the last week of Storytime and Library Afternoon Fun. Join us for storytime on Tuesday at 10:30am for preschoolers and Thursday at 10:30am for toddlers. L.A.F. is for kids K-5th grade on Tuesday at 3:30 pm.
These activities will begin again the week of January 15th, 2007!
From all of the staff at the Albert Lea Public Library, have a Happy Thanksgiving! The Library will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23rd and Friday, Nov. 24th. We will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 25th from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Eileen Considine-Meara, daughter of Norah Considine - Katherine Hepburn's cook and housekeeper for thirty years - has written an extraordinary book. It reveals the real woman behind the iconic image, sharing her daily rituals, describing the dishes and delicious meals Kate most enjoyed, telling stories of the friends she welcomed and entertained. Included are photographs, letters, recipes, essays and personal memorabilia that Kate bequeathed to Norah.
On Thursday, November 16 from 4:00 to 7:00, the Albert Lea Public Library Foundation will be holding a celebration at the library to thank patrons for their support. Bring the family...music, games, coloring contests and refreshments will be provided. Enjoy a night of fun !!!
Bring the kids to the Children's Library tonight at 6:30 for a Teddy Bear Picnic. Wear pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal for stories, snacks and a craft. We'll see you there!

BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim November 11, 2006, as Veterans Day and urge all Americans to observe November 5 through November 11, 2006, as National Veterans Awareness Week. I encourage all Americans to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our veterans through ceremonies and prayers. I call upon Federal, State, and local officials to display the flag of the United States and to support and participate in patriotic activities in their communities. I invite civic and fraternal organizations, places of worship, schools, businesses, unions, and the media to support this national observance with commemorative expressions and programs.
